OS1(SW/AW) David Brakebill joined the Navy in 1993.  After boot camp and OS “A” School he was assigned to the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71)where he was advanced to Second Class Petty Officer, earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare pin, completed two Mediterranean/Persian Gulf deployments, and was designated an Air Intercept Controller.  Following this assignment he transferred to the Fleet Information Warfare Center, where he served as a Command and Control Warfare Watch Officer for Carrier Group 8, again onboard CVN-71.  While at FIWC he earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare pin, a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College, was advanced to First Class Petty Officer, and joined the Surface Navy Association.  His next assignment took him to USS HAYLER (DD-997) where he was the Leading Petty Officer for OI Division.  While onboard, HAYLER completed a Mediterranean deployment as well as a UNITAS deployment.  His follow on assignment took him to USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN-75) and another Mediterranean deployment. 

For shore duty, he was assigned to Naval Network and Space Operations Command (Dahlgren) where he was involved in Special Technical Operations.  While at Dahlgren, OS1 reestablished the SNA Chapter there, and served as President of the Chapter for two years.  While President, he attended the National Symposium, where he was involved in all business meetings, forums, and socials.

Following NNSOC Dahlgren, he took a one year billet in Bahrain, working with CTF-57, conducting operational and administrative support for U.S. and Coalition Maritime Patrol Aircraft in the AOR.

OS1 is currently assigned to Commander, Carrier Air Wing 3, where he is the AIC Supervisor and AIC Program Manager for CVW-3 and
CSG-10.  

Re-established and served as President of the Dahlgren Chapter from 2004-2006.  Attended the National Symposium in 2005 and 2006 and participated in business meetings, forums, and socials.

He is affiliated with the Hampton Roads Chapter.

He currently lives in Providence Forge, VA with his wife, Karen.
